Dear Parents,
We are pleased to welcome your child as a member of Mumbles Judo Club. The club aims to build
confidence, co-ordination, physical fitness and awareness by exploring and practicing the ancient
martial art and modern Olympic sport of Judo.
Through games, skill based activities and techniques, your child will have opportunities to develop in
a safe, nurturing environment. We have a focus on developing good physical literacy skills for all.
We have affiliated to the British Judo Association (BJA).
In time, your child will have the opportunity to be able to grade in Judo.
Each child needs to take out individual membership with the Welsh Judo Association (WJA) in order
to grade / compete. On registering, your child will receive a licence. We will follow the Dragon Judo
Syllabus for 5-7 year olds, and junior grading’s for those age 8 and over. To obtain a licence, please visit:

– Please note only participants who have a judo licence are insured and
are able to be graded / compete. * Our club is listed as Mumbles Judo Club
You also need to join as member of the West Cross Community Centre. There is a fee of £2 per
child on an annual basis. (£1 for those aged under 7). We will take the payment for this on behalf of the Community Centre at your 2nd session, as the first session is free.
